The Off Shore Release

AT THE HELM, NICK DESHANO

Nick DeShano has officially taken over the helm at Off Shore Tackle LLC and looks forward to an ever promising future for the organization.

I’d like to start out by acknowledging the passing of our long time Team member Greg Horoky. He was much more than a team member; Greg has been with us from the beginning and is a true member of our family. His influences reach deep into the fi shing industry, especially in Canada, his home country. If you knew Greg, you’d know how dedicated he was to the fishing industry and especially to Off Shore Tackle. He was our Canadian Pro Staff Director for many years and his name was synonymous with Off Shore. Please join us in giving our condolences and gratitude to his family and all those who were impacted by Greg, he will be sorely missed.

It has been an interesting year with many challenges, but we at Off Shore Tackle are committed to bringing the highest quality and best performing products to help you catch more fish. The sport has changed dramatically in the last few years with the introduction of Forward Facing Sonar (FFS). It allows anglers to target specific fish, even in open water bites usually associated with trolling. It remains primarily a tournament tactic with the majority being won with FFS. As a trolling oriented company, this is having a profound effect on the industry as a whole. It is becoming more difficult to justify sponsoring tournament series that are dominated by FFS techniques.

When it comes to the everyday anglers, from guides to friends and family fishing together, trolling remains a staple technique that everyone can enjoy. Fishing with FFS takes a social aspect out of fishing. There is so much concentration involved with boat control, watching the screen, and casting to the correct spot in front of the fish that there is little time for visiting and storytelling. Trolling remains the most effective way to get everyone in the boat involved, whether there are only 2 or a boat full of people. It is a great way to introduce new anglers to the sport without having to spend thousands on electronics.

While FFS is gaining in popularity, I believe there will always be a place for trolling, a technique that has been a great way to catch fish, especially in open water for generations. You can be assured that Off Shore Tackle will remain at the forefront of the industry and continue to bring you the highest quality products you all know and love.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND CHOOSING OFF SHORE TACKLE!
